Google Sheets Vocabulary
We are going to begin a new assignment in the program- Google Sheets. There are a few vocabulary words that you need to be familiar with to do the assignment. The assignment is short and it can be found in Google Classroom. I have already included the English definition. You need to write the definition in Spanish and insert a picture that illustrates what the word means.
Google Sheets
First you need to watch a video. To access the video, go to: Google Drive>Shared Drive>Videos>Osborne>ESL>ESL Sheets
After you watch the video, you need to go to Google Classroom and open the Google Sheets assignment and complete the following steps:
1. 5 Headings- Countries, Population, $GDP, Language, Literacy Rate, and Life Expectancy. I want you to change the font size to 18 point font for the headings and make them bold.
2. In the countries column there are 15 countries I want you to include. They are: Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Honduras, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, Venezuela, Nicaragua, and United States.
3. Use this website for population. Type in the name of each country in the search box to find each country. Format the number so it has commas and make sure there are no decimal places.
4. In the $GDP column, you need to use this link to find the GDP per capita in each of the countries. Use PPP. Type the GDP for each country in the column. Make sure you use dollar signs. To do that you will need to change the numbers to currency instead of typing the $ sign. The Tutorial Video shows you how to do this. Change the decimal point to zero. (Remember you can use ctrl+F to search for specific words on web pages).
5. For the Language column, you need to go to google and type the name of the country you are looking for and the word “language”. Write the main language they speak in the column.
6. Use this link to find the literacy rates for each country. Use the literacy rates for the total population. Round each number so there aren’t any decimal points. They should all be whole numbers. If you have trouble finding some of the countries you can use this link as another resource. Just hover the mouse over the country you want to find out about and it will show you the literacy rate. Also make sure you change the column’s number type to “Percentage”.
7. Use this link to find the life expectancy rates for each country. Round each number so there aren’t any decimal points. They should all be whole numbers. You can’t write the word “years” in the cells. If you do, it will mess up your charts later.
8. After each column is finished, make a 2-D Bar Graph for Population. You will do it the exact same way that I did in the video.
9. Make a 2-D Bar Graph for GDP Per Capita. You will do it the exact same way that I did in the video.
Vocabulario de Hojas de cálculo de Google
Vamos a comenzar una nueva tarea en el programa: Hojas de cálculo de Google. Hay algunas palabras de vocabulario con las que debes estar familiarizado para hacer la tarea. La tarea es corta y se puede encontrar en Google Classroom. Ya he incluido la definición en inglés. Debe escribir la definición en español e insertar una imagen que ilustre lo que significa la palabra.

6. Use este enlace para encontrar las tasas de alfabetización de cada país. Use las tasas de alfabetización para la población total. Redondea cada número para que no haya ningún punto decimal. Todos deberían ser números enteros. Si tiene problemas para encontrar algunos de los países, puede usar este enlace como otro recurso. Simplemente coloque el mouse sobre el país que desea conocer y le mostrará la tasa de alfabetización. También asegúrese de cambiar el tipo de número de la columna a “Percentage”.
7. Use este enlace para encontrar las tasas de esperanza de vida de cada país. Redondea cada número para que no haya ningún punto decimal. Todos deberían ser números enteros. No puede escribir la palabra “años” en las celdas. Si lo hace, arruinará sus gráficos más tarde.
8. Una vez que haya terminado cada columna, haga un gráfico de barras 2D para la population. Lo harás exactamente de la misma manera que lo hice en el video.
